January is National Blood Donor Month

The month of January is an opportunity to recognize the roughly three percent of the U.S. population that donates blood each year.

In light, we would would like to share some awesome statistics related to blood donations:

1. A blood transfusion occurs every two seconds in America, and a single donation can save multiple lives.
2. 25% of the blood supply is used by patients battling cancer.
3. 1 in 3 African-American blood donors are a match for a patient with sickle cell disease.
