blood pressure

High blood pressure, also called hypertension, is blood pressure that is higher than normal and usually develops over time. It has no warning signs or symptoms, leaving many unaware they have it and can happen because of unhealthy lifestyle choices, such as not getting enough regular physical activity.

Regularly measuring your blood pressure is the only sure way to know whether or not hypertension exists. This is why regular wellness visits with your health care team are so important. In most cases, you can manage your blood pressure to lower your risk for serious health problems.

Know the numbers and talk with your PCP about managing blood pressure, and ways to keep track of it from home.
